Key & Related Concepts
Key Concepts are the big ideas which form the basis of teaching and learning in the MYP. Key concepts engage students in higher order thinking, helping them to connect facts and topics with more complex conceptual understanding. Key concepts provide a focus for transferring knowledge and understanding across disciplines and subjects.
Each subject will have a few key concepts linked to the discipline but all teachers are welcome to use any of the 16 key concepts.
Below are the 16 key concepts; a document defining each of the key concepts is posted at the bottom of the page.
