IB Assessments
MYP assessments are different than traditional grading practices. MYP focuses on a criterion-related model. Teachers will design specific units with tasks created for students to show their ability against the prescribed MYP objectives.
The criteria for each subject group represent the use of knowledge, understanding and skills that must be taught. They include factual, conceptual, and procedural layers of knowledge.
Infinite Campus
IB assessment scores are stored in Infinite Campus along with the student's CCSD grades. Each subject group will have IB scores in their four criteria. IB MYP Reports will be sent home at the end of each semester to show the student's progress according the the MYP objectives. The scores shared on the Report are the Overall Subject group grade. Each overall score is on a scale of 0-7. Please look at the picture to the right to read the descriptors for each IB grade.
Attaining a Level “5” is a significant accomplishment and should be thought of as a success. To attain a “6” or “7” requires extraordinary understanding and effort. It is not realistic to expect to get “straight 7’s” on the MYP Report. That said, it is also possible for middle school students to achieve one or two “6’s” or “7’s” in areas where they are particularly strong. lB stresses the concept of process, and this report is intended as a gauge for that progress. Below is the general break down of the descriptors that equate and IB grade.
