IB Learner Profile

The IB Learner Profile is the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) mission statement translated into a set of attributes defined specifically for the 21st century. These attributes are values inherent to an IB education and continue from the Primary Years Program (PYP) at Sandy Miller Elementary School (https://www.sandymilleracademy.com/) through the Middle Years Program (MYP) and finishing in the Diploma Program (DP) at Valley High School (https://www.valleyhs.vegas/). The learner profile provides a long-term vision and a set of ideals which inspire, motivate and focus the work of schools and teachers, uniting them in a common purpose.

IB programs promote the education of the whole person, emphasizing intellectual, personal, emotional and social growth through all education. By focusing on a combination of knowledge; skills; independent, critical, and creative thinking; and international-mindedness, IB believes in the principle of educating the whole person for a life of active, responsible citizenship, that education is a lifelong process and that the student is a lifelong learner.

The aim of all IBO programs is to develop internationally-minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.
