IBMYP Curriculum Plan

The course of study at the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) at Roy W. Martin Middle School is based on an eight-period day. English, Reading, Math, Science, and Humanities courses will follow the accelerated pacing and standards.
For the 2026-2027 school year, we are implementing an 8-period block schedule in an effort to maintain concurrency of learning. This will impact grade levels.
Sixth Grade IBMYP Curriculum:
- Language & Literature 6 (English & Reading)
- Mathematics 6
- Life Science 6
- Individuals & Societies (Ancient Civilizations/World History)
- Physical Education
- Design (Computer Literacy - high school credit course)
- Language Acquisition (Exploring Foreign Language 6 - Chinese, French or Spanish)
- Arts (Art, Band, Chorus, Mariachi, or Orchestra)
Seventh Grade IBMYP Curriculum:
- Language & Literature 7 (English & Reading)
- Mathematics 7
- Earth Science 7
- Individuals & Societies (Nevada History/World Geography 7)
- Physical Education
- Design (Computer Science Discoveries, Intro to Media Technology, Leadership, Publications, Robotics, Television Production)
- Language Acquisition (Conversational Chinese, French or Spanish)
- Arts (Art, Band, Chorus, Guitar, Mariachi, or Orchestra)
Eighth Grade IBMYP Curriculum:
- Language & Literature 8 (English)
- Mathematics 8 (Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry)
- Physical Science 8
- Individuals & Societies (Nevada History/World Geography 8)
